THE RECORD-BREAKING 200th SHOW

March 23, 2011 (New York, NY) – MSG Entertainment announced today that The Allman Brothers Band will perform their 200thshow at The Beacon Theatre on Saturday, March 26, 2011. The final performance in their spring run will mark the band’s 200thshow at The Beacon, holding the record for most performances by a band or artist at the iconic venue in New York City. The Allman Brothers Band returned to the Beacon Theatre on March 10th, kicking off a 13-show run. To commemorate the band’s longstanding history with The Beacon, marked by their 200 show, MSG Entertainment will be presenting The Allman Brothers Band with the keys to the legendary venue.

“There is no band more closely associated with the Beacon Theatre than The Allman Brothers Band and we are thrilled to celebrate their 200th show with them,” said Bob Shea, executive vice president, bookings Madison Square Garden Entertainment. “The Allman Brothers are an important part of this iconic venue’s history and the longstanding relationship they share with their fans is rare. The energy they create here on stage at The Beacon is electrifying.”

The Allman Brothers Band are musical pioneers that have forever defined the genre of jazz-influenced, free-form rock since 1969. The band’s first concert at the Beacon Theatre was held in 1989 and since that time it has been a long-standing tradition and annual rite of Spring for their loyal fans to attend the ‘The Beacon Run.’

“The first time we played The Beacon in 1989, we never imagined that more than 20 years later we’d still be playing the same theater and reaching our 200th show,” said Gregg Allman “I don’t know whether the fans feed off of us or we feed off the fans, but something incredible happens when we come together with our fans at The Beacon. There’s a vibe, an energy in the room that only happens here. Some of our greatest moments have occurred on The Beacon stage and we look forward to creating many more in the years to come.”

In 2009, the band celebrated their 40th anniversary at The Beacon with a 15-night run at the legendary venue. The shows were dedicated to Duane Allman and attracted numerous special guests including Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow, Trey Anastasio &Paige McConnell, Billy Gibbons, Bob Weir & Phil Lesh. In 2011, The Allman Brothers Band continued to rock The Beacon and received critical acclaim from the media. “With today's constant shifts in music, the longevity of The Allman Brothers Band -- 42 years and running -- is one of the remarkable stories in pop culture.” said Dan Aquilante from the New York Post. “The rockers were freakin’ at the Beacon with a performance that was musically lively…and had a celebratory feel.”
