The most fanatical of Trump reports ultimately failed in getting the majority of Americans to believe COVID19 was a democratic hoax, a Chinese disease, an misinfodemic by the left, so now they are trying to discredit - at least - & kill - at worst the experts who are the ones convincing Trump this is real. There's been a smear campaign* against the two doctors by Trump supporters who believe they're trying to undermine Trump (like he needs help) led, in part, by the Lt. Gov. of Texas. Now, security has been beefed up protect him against the credible death threats (as determined by US Marshalls) he's receiving by Trump supporters.

Fauci & Birx are the faces of the only expert task force that stands between us & catastrophe. All of this can be laid at the feet of Trump who, until Sunday, continued to lie about the virus's deadly potential. He should make a very clear statement to his believers that he's RELYING on Fauci & Birx to manage this crisis.

*The smear campaign against Fauci (who has served every president going back to Reagan) include using the twitter hashtag "#FraudFauci, gifs of him putting his head down when Trump mentioned the "deep state," calling him an alarmist when Trump said he had it under control, contradicting Trump's lies as deliberate undermining, & feeding the media inflated warnings (#fearporn). Of course, his worst offense is that 7 years ago he sent an email to then Secty of State HRC applauding her ENDURANCE during the Benghazi hearings.

Fauci and Birx talk I listen.

I am not familiar with this, I wonder how much of it could be stemming from overseas misinformation pot stirrers like have happened with other political candidates and issues?

Trump has created a climate of anti-experts throughout his administration. He's fired military, intelligence, & scientific experts who present facts he doesn't want to hear. Consequently, his followers distrust experts. They've taken it further in this election year to define it as a conspiracy to hurt Trump's re-election campaign.

The Dept of Health & Human Services has been aware of the anti-Fauci sentiment for weeks & yesterday requested 24/7 security for him after receiving multiple credible death threats in the past few days. The identified anti-Fauci activists are Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch & Bill Mitchell, host of a Trump supporter talk show called “YourVoice America." Investigations into the twitter & FB accounts that spread the information - particularly the theory that he & HRC are undermining Trump - are underway. Sounds as homegrown as any other MAGA theory.

Dr. Fauci is a straight up guy. He would not lie to please a political agenda. Trump wants total loyalty to the narrative he presents. Dr. Fauci is giving facts and expert medical opinion based on his years as a Doctor. Lieing to America to say it will not be so bad is not something his oath as a Doctor nor his conscience will allow. He cannot be coerced into political correctness.

By the way Donuts Delite is honoring Dr. Fauci by making special donuts in his image. Donuts Delite is in Rochester, New York and will ship them anywhere. 1-585-288-5555

There have been attempts to discredit Fauci by far right-wing trolls. To them, anyone contradicting the Trump must be a threat.

I was flipping through AM radio yesterday and whoever was subbing for Limbaugh said "this Fauci guy" more than once. F*cking idiot. Why can't people respect what these lifetime health professionals are saying? It's one thing to hear, read and analyze data while weighing estimates and opinions for what they are and what they are not compared to other information available. Not everyone has to believe exactly what another person says. It's fine if people come to their own conclusions, but in doing so they should substantiate their own opinions without discrediting the other view. If you disagree with Fauci, that is fine to do so, but you don't need to disrespect the man, just speak to your own view without insulting the opposing view. Politics meets medicine. Ugh.

Trump is their role model. He belittles, insults, demeans anyone who disagrees w/him or says something he doesn't want to hear. He frequently refuses to call women by their names & titles like referring to "that woman from Michigan" instead of the governor of Michigan. It trickles down. Of course a talk show host is going to emulate Trump, but the Secretary of the Navy calling the former CO "too stupid" for trying to contain COVID19 on an aircraft carrier in remarks to its crew & calling his actions a "betrayal" (grounds for a court martial) is a new low.

Excuse me, but isn't it Dr. Trump? His prescribing hydroxychloroquine should be reassuring to the American people in that he surely knows more than that Dr. Fauci guy.

Trump used to know more than the generals. He's upped his game - now he knows more than physicians and immunologists. That's our MAGA prezy.

At least the Secretary of the Navy is gone after his offensive remarks.

I keep using the word emboldened to describe Trump's disciples. My concern is that even when Trump leaves there is a segment of the population that has lost all restraint, courtesy, & respectful conversation.

I share those same fears....As do many others I suspect....I just heard Trump fired two Inspectors Generals just a few hours ago. Why? Because they provided written evidence of the continued ineptness of the Trump administration's response to the crisis. They weren't towing the Trump line and were instead providing actual data and facts to the citizens and the rest of the world...In Trump world that means it's off with your head..

More actual experts who aren't afraid to tell the truth....No doubt they'll be replaced by Trump fanatics who'll only tell him what he wants to hear.

Can Dr. Fauci survive? His facts <> Trump's narrative and lies.

It's painful to see Trump compete against local and national news now, as he's using the time to replace his hate rallies. He deliberately moved his noon pressers to about 6:00 EST. He gets free air time to spew his denials and rewrite history as "he saves the USA". God, Apple Pie, and Donald Trump".

What's really scary is he's found Oprah's TV doctor - Dr. Oz who has his own show wearing medical scrubs - to push the drug, too. Dr. Oz has spent his career as a "wellness adviser" who gave unscientific advice 60% of the time according to medical researchers in a report released in 2014. 1,300 physicians signed a letter to get him & his Dr. Oz TV show off the air because he was “a quack and a fake and a charlatan whose advice endangers patients.” Never mind the lupus patients who fear a shortage of the med for which it's prescribed.

We all know by now that Trump is a stable genius w/more knowledge than experts in economics, military, intelligence, epidemiology, diplomacy, and medicine. I'm sure there are more areas yet to be named.

And the latest attempt to coddle dear leader is to blame the World Health Organization for the inept response from the Trump administration.

It's one thing to investigate the entire process with which the world has responded to this pandemic, including the role of the WHO in ordere to improve the process in the future. But first the Trump crowd must deflect blame from them onto some other entity.

This is another one of Trump's go to tactics when his incompetence is revealed for the country and world to see. Just shift the blame to someone else. Obama, Congress, the fake media, etc....And his devoted followers believe it.

As a result, Donald came to believe that “he cannot be one without the other. You have to be a killer if you want to be a king.”

I really am surprised that no producer has approached Alec Baldwin to do a weekly sitcom.

Maybe that producer is you, piacere.....Given the huge need for original content with all the new streaming services out there in television land, any idea with some originality has the chance at success.

Just put Baldwin in a mock Oval office set and give him a script gleamed from a weeks worth of Trump stupidity (with the freedom to adlib) and you have the makings of a funny, low cost weekly show....Cheap to produce and potentially profitable....

And now we have the brilliant Dr. Trump re-tweeting the #FireFauci message of the ignorant fringe because Fauci stated the obvious in answer to a question: If we'd isolated earlier, there would've been fewer cases.

That's a fact. It's not a criticism of Trump or anyone or any organization. He went on to say that many factors were at play, these decisions weren't made lightly, & ultimately, there is no federal mandate - only guidelines. Governors set the mandates for their states. And the SD governor many see as a shining light of states' rights by not ordering a shelter-in-place has now admitted the closing of a pork processing plant whose sick employees represent 1/2 of all the state's COVID19 cases & represents a disruption in the national food chain.

I understand the economic devastation that can occur over a long period. However, I don't understand the rush to allow people "out" when the ONLY reason for curve flattening is isolation. There is no proven antibody test. There's no vaccine or treatment. The only thing we know now that we didn't before is that no one is immune - infants, 20-somethings, & all adults are susceptible. Worse, medical staff are falling ill & still are under-equipped w/PPE.

Business is still being conducted albeit from workers' homes, but there is no reason that companies can't function in 2020 because their employees aren't sitting in cubicles. Certain sectors - brick & mortar retail, restaurants, entertainment, & some personal services - can't re-open w/o personal contact, but they're not the key drivers of the economy.

#ListentoFauci.
