I'll be dumbfounded.
Can Americans really be that stupid twice?
Once I can understand but twice is a indictment of the education system.

If he wins, I’d offer congrats - w/condemnation heaped on him on a daily basis, he still prevailed
Is the condemnation deservedj? Mostly I don’t think so, no re elected president will have endured such scathing hate - it will have proven to be no more than hot air, brainless bluster & an impeachment process that cost million$$ for nothing

The scathing indictment IMO would be of an out of control media that demands to be ignored

It’s not much different from Boston sports teams - the hating they get in some quarters, is shot down by the support they get in road games (Pats/Sox/B’s)

That’s why I think incumbent Trump has a shot at re election - popular opinion aside, he has more supporters than people think

I was just going to post the exact same thing. Potentially support policy, potentially criticize it.

Same thing if Trump is impeached, what am I going to do, nothing. If that is the decision that Congress sees fit, fine. If they don't, fine. It's their job to do it or not to do it, not mine.

We choose the representatives and President. Once they are there, they run the show unless those with power to overrule or remove choose to act as the system allows.

If Trump is reelected, I will occasionally glance at Canadian real estate listings - wishing that the weather there was just a little warmer during winter months.

It’s all very complex - can’t grasp the notion of his “craving condemnation, b/c w/out it he’d be nothing”

The rapes, the accusations of racism, the ongoing effort of reporting things to make him look like a calculating conniving barbaric demonic deranged sniveling skunk - this is what I balk against -

In short I root for the underdog - at this early time that’s what it looks like to me in the election, even w/no viable opponent as yet

This is the exact reason why he will win again in 2020, and probably win by an even wider margain than in 2016. There are just as many Stephens as there are Trump haters. The worse he behaves, the more they love him - it's that simple. So there isn't any news that could come out that would make them change their minds. He could openly admit to anything, and none of it would matter. They'd love him more. You guys need to understand this.

On a side note, it's beyond cowardly to position Trump as some victim that has "endured scathing hate" when he attacks other Americans on Twitter everyday looking for a fight - give me a break. There is nothing normal or appropriate about his behavior from day one. The condemnation is more than deserved because he wants it. He craves it, and needs it to survive. Without haters condemning him in the media everyday, he has nothing and his voters would be bored of him.

If Trump all of a sudden became a nice guy, stopped Tweeting, stopped his criticism of Democrats, and followed all the rules, then Trump supporters would abandon him in 2 seconds.

His persona is based upon hate & picking a daily fight. The list is endless from gold star parents, to congressmen & women, to civil rights activisits, to members of his own admin who have departed him, and on & on. Just yesterday it was Macron at NATO.

This should be below the dignity of the Office Of Presidency, but he has made it normalized. Nobody blinks because it's just Donald being Donald. What an embarassment we have running the country.

Ask that no more illegal surveillance of Americans occurs. The harassment just has to stop. The sabotage and subterfuge has to stop. Millions of Americans are being harassed behind their backs and finding their lives in ruin. I thought that once Comey and Mueller moved on, it would stop, but it has not. I will not get on the soapbox today but that will be something I want to see if Trump wins the election. Maybe I should work on the re-election campaign.

I remember Al Gore saying he wanted an end to harassment and the way he said it, it was clear he understands what that means politically.

America will not be great with the gulog surveillance of people going on, the FBI sending trojan horses into people's computers and breaking into their email. What is worse is now the CIA is actually sending them on assignments for them, they have joined forces. Blackwater was bad enough. Maybe the agencies need to be revamped and separated, before some of them realize they have heeded the call to corruption unknowingly.

Look at Whistleblower, is he just a zealous patriot who felt he had to do something about a perceived wrong, or was he a plant sent in by an oppositional political party to do their bidding, knowingly or compartmentally kept in the dark?

To those who think he will be elected again, can I pose a question?

Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania do not a have a recent history of going red - Trump was able to flip those states. If he were to get more support in these states, I think he might win again. But I'm of the opinion the voter turnout for the Democrats coupled with some D and I voters that went for Trump who won't do so again now means those states go blue again. You?

If those 3 states went Blue in 2016 Hillary Clinton is President with 278 electoral votes to Trump's 260.

The info about 2016 electoral votes in the blue/red states & how it could apply to this election.....

She May Run Yet - she’ll size up the field as it thins out, gauge her own support vs the remaining field, examine if Trump is more vulnerable now than in 2016 -

Like a key 6th man, her entering would change the complexion of the game
Enough to win it this time? Ah but there lies the rub, aka, that friends is why they play the games

If she did, it’d be 3 candidates in their 70s - it’d be a first (maybe)
Bernie tho, I dunno - great man, too old IMHO
Joe B.....a little less elderly.....& possibly, Clinton

I view it the same way you do. Unless the Democrats pick somebody so far left that the swing voters can't accept him/her, then I don't see those states going to Trump again. I also don't think we will get another Bernie or Bust situation again, although Democrats do seem to find a way to blow it. The current talk of the Republicans cutting Social Security and Medicare probably won't help them win Florida, with all the retirees they have there, and we all know how close Florida usually is. If Trump wins, I think it will be another case of the Democrats finding a way to blow it more than anything else. Trumps popularity has been steady at right around 40% for most of his presidency, and that doesn't seem to change no matter what good or bad thing happen. I'm going to guess that that 40% is what he will have around election time. No way does he win the popular vote, but all the matters is the vote in a half dozen swing states. I'd say it's possible he can win again, but not likely.

I don’t agree with this. I don’t believe Trump flipped states because of the Independent swing voters. If that were the case, then the polls would’ve shown that. Why were the polls wrong? Because Trump woke up all the politically disillusioned inactive people who feel the same way Stephen and Fujirich feel, who came out in droves to vote for him. I believe voter turnout will be at an all time high, with both sides coming out in droves to vote. And I believe Trump will take the same states as in 2016.

Trump was elected (didn't say, "won") because the Democrats decided to run the only person in the world unpopular enough to lose to him. I seriously hope they learned from this.

Trump certainly has his fans, but the election was very close in those states. We know that Trump got some votes in 2016 from voters he won't get in 2020 (just look at nebish right here in this thread). I don't think Trump will pick up many new supporters. Unless a third candidate comes in to split the vote, or unless we have another Bernie or Bust situation again, I can't imagine Trump winning again. Just look at the last election in Pennsylvania, the Democrats picked up districts that have been Republican for decades. Of course I could be wrong.

If they had done one iota of research about him, they would know he was unfit, unqualified and unsuited to be POTUS.

Trump has undertaken a number of business projects that ultimately failed:

Trump Steaks
GoTrump (online travel site)
Trump Airlines
Trump Vodka
Trump Mortgage
Trump: The Game
Trump Magazine
Trump University
Trump Ice (bottled water)
The New Jersey Generals (pro football team)
Tour de Trump (bicycle race)
Trump Network (nutritional supplements)
Trumped! (syndicated radio spot)

Not to mention the numerous bankruptcies filed, the unpaid bills to suppliers and laborers for work on various Trump properties, ignoring the Fair Housing Act by refusing to rent to black tenants; it goes on and on...

He has made the U.S. a laughingstock; he picked up his marbles and went home early from NATO/London because in fact other world leaders WERE laughing at him...he's an embarrassment.

I think his voters were well aware of this, but loved that he was going to fight those they don't like, and that was all that mattered. The thought of watching him beat up on people for 4 or 8 years was too much to resist. Nobody cared about building a wall. That was all just a vehicle for rallying behind his hostility and division. They couldn't care any less about what's best for the United States and our national security.

Well, certainly, Trump appealed to a lot of combative, deeply polarized and racist people and groups.

But I think it is important to understand that his campaign was much more than about fighting, mean-spirited politics and hatred.

Trump had a message that appealed greatly to union blue collar workers; retired, employed and unemployed, who had seen their jobs and livelihoods of their families vanish over time. Trump offered something different, all they had done for generations if vote Democrat and what did it get them? Trump spoke to them, Bernie did to as well, but come time for the general election they had two choices and Hillary never championed those who shower after work rather than before. And so, some of these people flipped, they voted Trump.

Now, I can't tell you how many people flipped, just like you can't tell me how many racists came out of the woodwork to vote for Trump.

But I can tell you the county just north of me had solidily and reliably voted Democrat every election for several decades until Trump. Obama won it by 23 points. Trump won it by 6. It was a monumental shift and signal in my local area what people were voting on; an area quite similar to several once thriving industrial cities and counties in the midwest.

So we are where we are now and I can already anticipate the responses coming "yeah well what did they get" "a lot of good it did them". Be that as it may....if these people didn't get what they thought they were going to get...you think they are voting for him again? Some might, I would guess most would not.

Trump took an issue that should've solidly been in the Democrats wheel house and awkwardly shoved it on the 2016 Republican platform, more accurately his platform as his position on manufacturing and jobs hasn't been the Republican party position for the last 100 years.

It's easy to just say Trump brought the worst voters and that swayed the election, but it is quite more that just that. It is some of that, I'm not saying it's not. From where I sit, in this part of the country, Trump's message to voters in the midwest and workers in the rustbelt had more to do with why PA, WI and MI went red. It will be an enormous challenge to duplicate and I would not bet on it. And I like to bet on things.

I am still trying to figure out how two of the most hated and unpopular people in the solar system became our two main choices for President of the United States in the last election. I proudly voted for Gary Johnson and would do exactly the same if the same choices were presented in 2020.

Hillary slamming Bernie on that "shock-jock" radio show ... did nothing to change my feelings for her.
