Yeah I just saw it on Facebook as well, one of my FB friends in L.A. knew him and posted it..........she's in about as much shock as I am. What a tremendous musician. I imagine Derek and Susan are cryin' a river tonight.......... ____________________ Don't let the sounds of your own wheels

Thank you, Kofi, for all the fantastic contributions you made to the DTB, TTB, Frogwings, and filling in for Gregg ( planned or unplanned ) over the years.
You will be missed |

I always felt Kofi was the best thing that ever happened to Derek, at least in his solo career. The combination of Derek's slide and Kofi's flute will forever be one of my favorite sounds.
I can't imagine how TTB can really replace him. This will be a tough loss for Derek and Susan on many levels.
Here is one of my favorite things, Derek and Kofi playing Coltrane together....

My thoughts exactly.
Check out the Jam Base link I posted (my comment is 4th from the top of this thread). At the bottom of that link is a video of Kofi and Susan doing Leon Russell's "A Song For You". It brought tears to my eyes.

My wife and I send sympathies and condolences to both the Burbridge family and the TTB family. Kofi was a wonderful musician who added untold musicianship and professionalism to the bands he played with. My wife and I spoke to Kofi many times and he always conducted himself as a humble and sweet man. His contributions will be forever missed. Like Derek has said many times, "Kofi is a badass". Rest in peace brother! |

RIP Kofi Burbridge- “ Damn! Our musical family has lost another brother. Kofi was one of the best! Wonderful musician! Terrific human being! Flooded with memories right now- all the times we played together and hung together. Damn! We thought he was gonna pull through. I can’t get started on how unfair life seems sometimes. Been a rough few years for the music world and our musical family. Guess we need to be thankful that music has brought so many of us together. He touched a lot of people with his musical spirit. We were all blessed to have felt it. Miss you, Kofi. Damn!”- WH |

What Rob said x100. The month of transition of the dTb from 7/6/00 - 8/6/00 when Javier first auditioned and then later became a full member and Kofi becoming the sole keyboardist . . . That's when the dTb became the heavyweight champions of jam. And can you imagine a song like Idlewind or countless others with NO flute?! 😓. Kofi played music we can all hear and feel but that few of us have the amazing musical talent and vision he had to execute. Truly one of a kind and . . . He will be *hugely* missed in our scene.
Unrelated to this post but Rob I pulled up and re-read an old post of yours the other day praising the ABB 10/4/09 show . . . Ordered that show from MunckMix along with a Jaimoe show and 4 Les Brers shows.
