Ok, let's say something goes terribly wrong during your demise here on Earth and you end up in well, Hell. The devil has cooked up something special for you, that's right an eternity of music you absolutely despise. Name the 10 bands or artists that would make up your own personal Hell.
1) Creedence Clearwater revival
2) Jimmy Buffet
3) John Denver
4) Any band that features Bob Weir's vocals
5) Chicago
6) Phish
7) Kid Rock
8) Blues Traveler
9) The Grateful Dead
10) U2 ____________________ "And we're like, the world is gonna end in 12 years if we don't address climate change" - Congresswoman Box of rocks |

At a conference held in Orlando, I was taken (pretty much at gunpoint) to one of them Jimmy Buffet restaurants - hamburger in paradise or margaritaville - can't remember the exact name. There was like a 90 minute wait for a table, incredibly slow service and then it took forever to get the bill and pay up (well over 2 hours). I'd always been ... indifferent to Buffet, but the whole time we were there, JB videos played on several giant screens, JB music was pumped throughout the place in every corner. In short, it was a Jimmy Buffet overload. Hell just can't be any worse than this. To this date I look for ice picks to jam into my ear drums whenever a Buffet tune comes on the radio, jukebox or restaurant music system.
To Jimmy Buffet, I'd add:
Phil Collins (especially In The Air Tonight)
Shania Twain (I hope that she and her producer find themselves trapped in an elevator with that song that sounds like a football cheer (the one with the uh-uh-uh-oh chorus) playing on an endless loop someday)
Ingrid Michaelson - Be Okay (I'm not one prone to giving out threats, but if I ever catch the a$$hole who allowed this person to record this song - they are dogmeat!)
Bob Seeger - Turn the Page (if you can't handle money for nothing and chicks for free, then get a haircut and get a real job, Bob! Frickin' crybaby!)
Bro Country - any of the modern day "hat singers". You've disgraced Hank Williams, Merle Travis, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard et al with your blending of inane lyrics and sill-billy "sangin". Do us a favor and throw yourselves under the next passing train!

I'm totally with you on these expect for #5. I dig a lot of early Duran Duran
I don't know who the artists are, but I'd also add in Mexican Polka thumping at the highest decibels possible. Feels like I'm on a never-ending merry go round. Pure insanity.... |

Music hell...
Beyonce
Mozart
Dixieland Jazz
Manzarek's solo on "Light My Fire" on endless repeat
The lead guitar solo on "Crimson and Clover" on endless repeat
John Philip Sousa
Any of Joni Mitchell's jazz attempts
P.J. Harvey and Nick Cave (the soundtrack to my divorce, the ONLY music my ex ever played, riding in her car was actual torture)
Elton John except for Rocket Man and Daniel
Frank Sinatra
Heart
Styx
Nugent
Barry Manilow
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir
99.9% of all music ever made on this planet, now that I think of it, we are in music hell already, I would hate to think it could get worse than this.
and I'll second Billy Joel ! pure pain. That "You may be right I may be crazy" number could be hell all by itself. Or that "Hacken sack ack ack ack ack" Mars Attacks thing, for eternity.

Yeah #5 is my wife's favorite music but I just never got into that genre as I was always into Rock. I can put up with it but only for a short period of time when she plays it.
Then again she is not a fan of most of my classic rock so we are ying and yang when it comes to our musical tastes. Although she does love the Stones. ____________________ "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." attributed to Ben Franklin |

And i guess i could see how somebody wouldn't like the Dead, Blues Traveler, or Phish, but i find it hard to believe it would be hell. |

That's the closest anyone's come to my personal music hell so far in this thread. And I agree with the missing "IT" factor (I call it "Soul")
Nothing there I disagree with.
