I want to see the tracklist!
http://www.themortonreport.com/entertainment/music/brothers-and-sisters-by-
the-allman-brothers-band-to-receive-40th-anniversary-reissue/
Back in the early '70s, after the devastating loss of both Duane Allman and bassist Berry Oakley to motorcycle accidents, the Allman Brothers Band pushed forward to continue creating the music that they were known and loved for. In 1973, the band released their fourth studio effort, Brothers and Sisters, and achieved even more critical success. The album contained their high-charting and possibly best known song, “Ramblin' Man.” But the album's seven tracks were nothing short of extraordinary.
One of the songs, “Jessica,” was an engaging instrumental that flowed beautifully for over seven minutes. Others included “Southbound,” which was consistently played alongside “Jessica” by FM stations, while “Ramblin' Man” ruled the singles chart on many Top 40 stations worldwide.
Allman Brothers Band Brothers and Sisters.jpgOne of the nicer news in this young year is the refresh being supplied to Brothers and Sisters by Mercury Records. The album is expected to be remastered, and will be released in multiple formats that include a four-CD Super Deluxe Edition, a two-CD Deluxe Edition, and a single-CD edition. Also planned for this 40th Anniversary reissue will be a coveted LP edition. And, of course, all of the mentioned CD Editions will be released as mirrored digital files. All sets are expected to be released on June 25.
The announcement of the reissue has come quite early, and therefore contains no information as to what will be on the second, third, and fourth discs. Speculate all you want as to the bonus features of the sets (I'm hearing the 1973 Winterland concert, for one). But for now, enjoy the fact that you will soon own a definitive edition of Brothers and Sisters. |

Great article, I thank you also for the heads up. Would love to get my hands on the remaster but will likely get just the one disc and not the two or four disc sets. I know from experience that they end up sitting on the shelf collecting dust. ____________________ Don't let the sounds of your own wheels

If the reports regarding disc content are, I don't think any of the 4 discs will end up sitting on the shelf ...
The "Super Deluxe" version will be a 4 CD set .....
Disc 1 = original album remastered ...
Disc 2 = out-takes and jams ...
Discs 3 & 4 = live concert from Winterland in San Francisco 26th Sept 1973
(4 of the tracks from that show were previously on the live album "Wipe the Windows etc) .....
I am really looking forward to this ... ____________________

Hi Effie ... no, I'm not ordering yet ... waiting for more official info first ... not to mention cost options ...
HTN are bound to sell this and they will probably offer a pre-order ... not that a pre-order is essential because there is nothing (as yet) to suggest that it will be a limited edition and so there is no danger of it being sold out ... but I guess if you want to guarantee getting a copy the week that it is released then a pre-order would be advisable ...
No doubt Joe will let us know as soon as more info is available ... ____________________

IF true, I suspect one of the CDs could be a different mix and not another CD of unreleased or live material. One could be standard and one could be SACD or something like that. I wouldn't get my hopes up for a bunch of unreleased live or outtakes until I see a track list. ____________________ Tim L. |

This is a legit release; the Super Deluxe Edition includes 4 CDs - the original "Brothers and Sisters" album remastered, a CD of outtakes, jams and rehearsals, and two CDs of the complete Winterland show from Sept., 1973. I interviewed Bill Levenson and Chuck Leavell about it, and this will be the cover story for the June issue of "Hittin' the Note." everyone will be very pleased with the package; the outtakes CD is fascinating, and the Winterland show has some tremendous moments.

I ordered this from the UK before I saw the Amazon offer. I'll buy whatever vinyl becomes available as I recently bought a new turntable. ____________________ Alan |

The Allman Brothers Band, Hittin' the Note and the Big House have all been working with Universal for some time on this release.
HTN will work diligently to offer a unique pre-sale that is worth your while as well as offer agressive pricing for our customers. It's gonna be cool...
What a year this is turning out to be - with even MORE (besides this) in the pipeline!
