Wilko Johnson (born John Peter Wilkinson, 12 July 1947, Canvey Island, Essex) is an English guitarist and songwriter, particularly associated with the UK rhythm and blues band Dr. Feelgood in the 1970s. Johnson and Dr Feelgood have been credited as one of the founding influences of the British punk movement.
----------------------------------
NEWS: An important and particularly sad announcement today from Wilko's manager Bob Hoy - via the Wilko Johnson page:
"I am very sad to announce that Wilko has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer of the pancreas. He has chosen not to receive any chemotherapy.
He is currently in good spirits, is not yet suff...ering any physical effects and can expect to enjoy at least another few months of reasonable health and activity.
He has just set off on a trip to Japan; on his return we plan to complete a new CD, make a short tour of France, then give a series of farewell gigs in the UK. There is also a live DVD in the pipeline, filmed on the last UK tour.
Wilko wishes to offer his sincere thanks for all the support he has had over his long career, from those who have worked with him to, above all, those devoted fans and admirers who have attended
his live gigs, bought his recordings and generally made his life such an extraordinarily full and eventful experience.
Thank you.
Robert Hoy
(Manager)"

Yeah, i just wanted to update my previous post with info regarding his acting career which was taking off by getting a role in "Game Of Thrones":
Acting career:
For his acting debut, Johnson was cast in the role of mute executioner Ilyn Payne, in both the first and second series of the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones, after the producers had seen him in Oil City Confidential. He related that "'They said they wanted somebody really sinister who went around looking daggers at people before killing them. That made it easy. Looking daggers at people is what I do all the time, it's like second nature to me'." He appeared in four episodes: "The Kingsroad", "Baelor" and "Fire and Blood" (series one, 2011), and "Blackwater" (series two, 2012).

I have been a huge Wilco era Dr Feelgood fan since I first heard the album Malpractice way back in 1976. Incredible band and one incredible guitarist. This is very sad news...
God bless you Wilco. My heart also goes out to you and your family at this time . ____________________ "In my dream the pipes were playing

Unfortunally is health seems to be dwindling rapidly as he had to cancel his farewell shows.
Very sad indeed. He was really looking forward to those shows and so were lot's of his fans.
"Wilko Johnson won’t reschedule the last two shows of his farewell tour, he’s confirmed.
It means his appearance on BBC TV on Saturday, to mark the closure of the broadcaster’s former London HQ, was his last-ever performance. And conditions at the event are what led to the terminal cancer victim calling off his final gigs in Canvey Island.
His management reported on Sunday that Johnson had cancelled for health reasons. Now the former Dr Feelgood guitarist has stated he won’t return to the stage after guesting with Madness at Saturday’s outdoor concert.
He tells Echo News: “I only performed one song, but it was freezing. The wind was blowing up an absolute gale. It was whipping into my face – how Madness performed for an hour I have no idea. It was very very, very cold; and I think this is why I feel down.”
The 65-year-old announced in January that he’d been told his pancreatic cancer was terminal. He decided not to opt for painful treatment and instead announced a farewell UK tour, and he’s still aiming to record one more album and release a live DVD.
“It is really upsetting not to perform for the people of Canvey at the end,” he says. “I really wish I could have done it. If one little bit of me thought it was possible I would have done it.”

Very sad. Just watched Oil City Confidential last week. I saw Wilko in 2010 for the first time in maybe 20 years and it was great to see that he was riding a bit of a surge on the back of that movie. Best wishes to a Brit legend. ____________________ You get SOMETHING out of it every night!- Mike "Pickles" Hale

Very sad indeed ... he had planned a very dignified and sentimental departure from public life ... well from life really ... and it is very upsetting that his final tour had to be cut short of his intended grand finale on Canvey Island ... I will be playing "Stupidity" as my CD of choice this weekend ... ____________________
