I have a buddy that has been collecting autographs for 30 years. He is quite experinced and has turned his hobby into a money maker - by collecting, buying, and selling.
He is not an ABB fan but he ordered a presale-signed copy after I told him about it. He received his copy today and sent an email to me. In it he said that
at first glance his copy looked like an "Autopen".
Without a trained eye I wouldnt know the difference. Any thoughts ?

Well, I actually called HTN about mine because the first G was half missing. I was told that it was a unique signature and that if he drooled on the page it would be even more unique. I could return the book, but not get another since there were no more signed copies.I would have just bought another signed copy and use this one as the reader copy. If it was autosigned I would be greatly disappointed. |

I agree. The signature on my book does not look like something that came from an ink pen. |

There is a rare book store in Atlanta called C. Dickens at Lenox Square. I am going to take my copy there and see if the sig is authenic. If it isn't I am through with HTN, if it is I will apologize to all concered .

Ahh finally found the right code.
So is it like yours?
I read in the HTN thread these came from the publisher so that makes me think they were autosigned. |

The one that is scanned and posted is missing part of the E too. Since I'm in the printing business, I just happen to have a printer's loupe (similar to a jeweler's loupe) at home and checked it out. It looks printed by a press to me. If that in fact is the case, the reason roboto's would be missing part of the letters isn't a lack of ink, it's blanket pressure that caused the problem. Pressures are adjusted during press runs. What is done in a case like this is that there are so many sheets printed with the signature on them, then the signature is either "erased" from the plate or the plate with the signature is removed and a new plate with no signature put on. Sorry for the printing tutorial. Just my .02 ____________________ Front feet doin' the shuffle, back feet too, love them good ol' Georgia blues

Mine is EXACTLY the same too - the ink does bleed through where the pen stops, just a little .... but I'm convinced it's a machine. Fully. HTN may have a few available after all, I have a feeling (slightly used).
full disclosure: it arrived slightly used

What really sucks was when they posted Gregg has agreed to sign a few more copies so get them while you can! We were mislead into thinking he was personally signing these! This really makes me sick being screwed over by the ABB offical site! |

First thing the wife says when I get my copy....think it's real?

Looks the same to me, just less ink in mine. Wish the first pic was smaller to make an easier comparison.
So I'm guessing it's perfectly legal to sell an auto sig as a signed by author sig? ____________________ Well 30 years of heart and soul, lord we took it further than rock and roll.

Slimzimm it also doesn't look like the same page in the book either? Maybe you were a lucky one that got a legit copy but mine looks EXACTLY like the other two pics posted! |

On mine, the capital A is a little different and Slim's looks different. Like I said, mine doesn't look like it was signed by hand, but I can't say for sure that it isn't. I can neither prove nor disprove anything, just wanted everyone to be aware of how it works in the printing business. Hoping it's on the up and up and that Gregg really signed them. Don't have any way of posting mine, sorry. ____________________ Front feet doin' the shuffle, back feet too, love them good ol' Georgia blues

Mine is EXACTLY like this one.
When I first saw it I thought it looked a little funny.
I compared it to other Gregg autographs I got in person and it looked legit.
I'M SURE HTN WILL SAY THAT'S THE WAY THEY GOT IT FROM THE PUBLISHER AND PUSH THE BLAME ON THEM.
I'm done with HTN you'll never get another penny from me.
