Description: 1969 Vinyl Allman Bros stenciled amp cover for Dickey Betts' Bassman head amp # 2. The amp head ( #2) was likely a 1967 blackface. Early version Allman Bros. Stenciling. Name " Dick" and circled # 2 printed on cover was written by Twiggs Lyndon per E J Devokatis curator of the Big House Museum in Macon. Cover is currently mounted on Dickey's 1968 Bassman head amp (#3). This is possibly the only remaining example of these early Allman Bros stenciled amp covers. Per Kim Payne the vinyl amp covers were discarded early on as they did not hold up well. He said the stitching came apart from all the abuse of non stop touring. These amp covers were likely not used beyond the middle of 1970. The the head amps were then put in road cases for touring per Kim Payne. Those road cases had the later version ABB stenciling as shown on the cover of the Fillmore East LP.
