BLUE__SKYSkydog doin' his thang. Awesome. Thanks for posting!
finskyYeah! Never, ever seen this one before. Awesome.
RANDYGALVANNotice the gauze on the slide: just another technique from the ARTIST to find another sound. He always tried to get it a little bit better & different!!
RedSkyDogThis is an awesome photo I have never seen of Duane and his SG. It wasn't at the Fillmore East though. Duane didn't start playing slide on the SG until around Aug. '71, no too long after he acquired "Hot 'Lanta", his darkburst Les Paul, just before the
horacegammetVery cool shot. I like seeeing Jaimoe in the b/g, too. Very, very cool.
PeterNelsonLee, in March 1971, when =At Fillmore East= was recorded, the ABB was sandwiched between the Elvin Bishop Group and Johnny Winter And.
PeterNelsonRandy, the gauze isn't =on= the slide for sound; it's inside to keep Duane's finger from getting all sweaty, which would soften up a callused fingertip.
RANDYGALVANThat never even crossed my mind; thanks for the insight!
sincecarnegiehallThink he's into it? can't help it...you gotta luv this shit!!!
bigtroutThis really captures how passionate Duane was. He pushed everyone in the band, including himself, to be their best. HE IS MISSED.
PeachNuttA great photo- I was the March & June 1971 Fillmore East shows....it is very unlikey that this photo is from March '71- altho it could be from June of 1971 (that is when they played with Albert King & J.Geils)......the closing of the Fillmore East is when
PeachNuttDuane purchased "Hot 'Lanta" the tobacco sunburst LP PeachNuTT I Love Hittin The Note Magazine (buy it!)
Slider1425It's not gauze. I had the opportunity to hang w/ Bobby Whitlock (Derek & The Dominos - keys)and he told me the story. Duane started using parafin wax, often from the coverings of Edam cheese. He would melt it down and pour it into his Coricidin bottle.
Mt_Magnolia_Mani use this photo as my avatar on a few different message boards; i love it
skyponydogboythat dont look like any wax I've seen...really??wax? I always thought it was a piece of cloth.
