Description: Duane playing the red SG-likely at the closing night of the FE.
UNCLEJON75nice pic, finsky
MarleyThat's a great shot.
WheelchairBanditDuane didn't play the SG at the FE closing, just the '59 Les Paul-great pic though!
finskyHmm.... this pic was definitely from the FE though. The shirt, guitar, & the venue.... anybody know?
FrankJrI have some proofs from photographer Joe Sia. He took stills during the closing of the Fillmore East. There are a few stills similar to the photo in question -- where Duane is playing the SG for slide.
WheelchairBanditPlenty of pics of Duane from 6/27/71 at FE,playin slide on the '59 Les Paul.He didn't start using the SG until sometime in 8/71
finskyI've seen the Joe Sia proofs as well, & Duane clearly is alternating between two guitars. Either his proofs have the wrong dates, or Duane was using the SG much sooner than 8/71. Interesting.
BLUE__SKYFancy threads on the pants' side seam. Duane wears this shirt during the Layla sessions...Yep. Go Skydog!
leestenzlerThe picture I posted of Duane playing Statesboro Blues in March 1971 shows that he played the red SG bafore 8/71. I was also at the final concert in June 71 and he played both the SG and the Les Paul.
ILABBSWEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
heltover
heltoverThis photo really makes me just almost undescribably returned to that fantastic period of time when this icon was still around, with his facial ,always INTO IT!!!!! total output when he played....showed on his face the output his whole being blasted over
nitelite51saw Duane in Feb 71 using the SG for slide, LP for standard fretting.
KHKThe 6/27 closing show was reserved for industry/media types but I was at the 6/26 show in '71 and he definately played the SG for open tuning slide.
elagruaThis sits, framed, on my nighttable.
prestonMTneerGreat pic of THE musical inspiration to me and the way I try to live. God Bless Duane...
skypupWhat can be said? I am in awe! Thank you Skydog, you the man!!!
LesPaulStandardLoverThis is a 1961 Gibson Les Paul Cherry Mahogany not an SG. The SG Standards that came later in '62 and '63 some had a bigger pickguard and the horns were longer.
StratDalNice pic. Good way to start the day!!
