75gradWhat a shame that there is no live video of the genius at work
horacegammetSure there is. Just not a lot. A Fillmore short show that has DOn't KEep Me wondering, Dream, Liz Reed, and Whipping Post is easily findable. Plus, there's some Love Valley footage out there.
jmorgs12And I just got my hands on a little bit more!
LesPaulStandardLoverThis is dated 1971 because he is playing the 1959 Les Paul Standard Desert Burst book-ends maple flame top which he played at the Filmore East Concerts.
LesPaulStandardLoverThis is from the concert at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium on July 17, 1971, the last date Duane played with "The ABB" in Atlanta, GA.
horacegammetMy understanding is he didn't get this until shortly before the closing of the Fillmore in June '71.
LesPaulStandardLoverThis 1959? Les Paul Standard was delivered by Linhof to Duane on June 25, 1971, for $160 and a '54 Stratocaster. The year is unsure because the original neck had been broken and replaced. Berry got his '60 Fender Jazz Bass the same day.
LesPaulStandardLoverThis is the only time I saw him play slide with this guitar live at the Matinee show July 17, 1971. At the concert that night he used the 1961 Les Paul Cherry for slide. The Matinee was a better show. Dicky Marshall SL fried at the night show.
LesPaulStandardLoverThis Gibson Les Paul Standard is believed to be a 1959, because that is when the book-ends maple, flame tops, started being manufactured at Nashville plant and it has a '59 repalced neck.
StephenA stunning image of a great musician playing a really beautiful instrument -- thanks for posting it Marion, you rock bro -- Skydog forever
