"Kid Charlemagne"

This guy's name is Rick Beato and he's done this for a couple of classic cuts and if you are a guitar appreciator/player, check this out as he explains Larry Carlton's incredible work on this song....

Great series. There are a number of episodes now.

His approach makes me think of that of the Classic Albums series a while back, where they would isolate tracks to discuss what made songs work.

Rick Beato is a college music professor giving away his knowledge for free daily on YouTube...go deep into his vid catalog and you can find a lot of great theory lessons....film scoring...scales modes and how to use them along with chords withing these scales

Rick is gift for those of us that love the inner workings of sound

Great stuff! I'm not a musician.
I randomly checked out "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" by The Police.
I appreciate the song much more now by how he shows the intricacies of the song.

Beato walks a nice balance between dipping into theory and explaining things in layman's terms. He clearly loves what he does, and his enthusiasm really shines.

I have even enjoyed watching his breakdown of songs that I am not that knocked out by.

I have Seen his videos on other tunes; through explanation and fantastic playing. Doesn't get any better than this

That rhythm section and the lyrics are what makes that song great.
I think it was either Bernard Purdie or Rick Marotta on the skins and Chuck Rainey on bass.
Of course Carlton on guitar. With a rhythm section like that, a good song to begin with canít lose. Those guys were slick as snot on a silk shirt.
Plus Fagen & Beckerís lyrics are brilliant. One of their most interesting twisted tales of the seamy underbelly of life!

Here is a Rick Beato video in which he breaks down the Genesis song "Dance on a Volcano." He does an incredible job with this incredible song:
