Joe B was in my area last year and Reese was excellent in Joe's band. Ticket prices were up there. I had to hold up a liquor store to see the show.

Don't forget Reese was in Second Coming with Dickey and Berry. And may have been in Duane Allman's band if Gregg had stayed in LA. Duane, Dickey and Berry were taking turns singing when The Second Coming had temporarily evolved into what was later called The Allman Brothers minus Gregg but with Reese on keys. But they felt nobody in the band could sing well enough to be the main singer. Dickey and Berry were telling Duane he needed to get his brother to join. But Duane later told Jaimoe he already knew he was going to bring Gregg in at some point.

His story is fascinating to me. Never knew that he was in the band up until Gregg came back from LA. When he joined Stevie Ray and Double Trouble, I thought, who is this guy. Who knew back then about his already formidable reputation. Saw him play with Joe Bonamassa, really dug that performance. Quite the talented player. Glad to see him putting out good music.

Iím really enjoying Reese's new album. There's some serious talent on that album and it shows.

The following is an interview with Reese where covers the early days and mentions Berry, Dickey and Duane.

Reece is a "Brother", and important to the formation of the band.

Long, long overdue, if you like this style/genre of music I highly recommend this:

Van Morrison & Joey DeFrancesco: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNLWffLywJE&t=263s

Yes Van is STILL the man.

Funny how awesome musicians float in certain circles. I thought the exact same thing. Little did we know. Tommy Shannon also played with Johnny Winter at Woodstock.

To say I love these guys would be a slight understatement.

Tommy Shannon was in Johnny Winter's band the Progressive Blues Experiment and did an album together, and then when Johnny Winter got signed to a major label as a solo artist Shannon played on Johnny's first two solo records, the self-titled one (masterpiece!) and also Second Winter (also excellent if not quite a masterpiece).

I loved Reece in Double Trouble. Glad he's still got a good gig and recording.
