It is simple, goob. So simple that you should even understand it. The legality of the election is in question. Trump is under investigation for crimes that could eventually be heard by SCOTUS. The illegitimate president should not pick the judges that may decide his fate. Do you understand?

The 1st words from Brett Kavanaugh

Brett Kavanaugh: Mr. President, thank you. Throughout this process, I have witnessed firsthand your appreciation for the vital role of the American judiciary.

No president has ever consulted more widely or talked with more people from more backgrounds to seek input about a supreme court nomination. Mr. President, I am grateful to you, and Iím humbled by your confidence in me.

Having experienced how Trump, the autocrat wannabe, has spoken over the last few years, it makes one wonder about the conversations behind closed doors with Trump & nominee. We know Trump loves loyalty, and this would certainly be the time to call in a favor.

I found these emails in my inbox this morning sent within 10 minutes of each other. A little comical to see them back-to-back.

Scott -

The establishment would like for you to think that the Supreme Court is an impartial judicial institution whose decisions are above politics. That was perhaps once true, but it is certainly not the case anymore.

Donald Trump just announced that he will nominate Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Let me be absolutely clear: this nomination is a 100 percent political decision, and one that will have a profoundly negative effect on the lives of working people of this country for decades to come if Brett Kavanaugh is confirmed.

Brett Kavanaughís record has made it clear he will use his position on the court to protect corporations at the expense of workers, to allow corporations and the wealthy to buy elections and to undermine voting rights. Further, given the fact that Donald Trump stated repeatedly during the campaign that any nominee of his would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, I have no doubt that is exactly what Brett Kavanaugh will do.

Simply put, nothing is more important now than doing everything in our power to stop this nomination. I intend to travel to many states around the country in opposition to this nomination. Can I count on you to work with me in this fight?

Please add your name to my petition: We must oppose Brett Kavanaughís nomination to the Supreme Court. This is critical to protect our democracy, so please sign now.

Here is a hard truth: for decades the far right has made it their number one goal to stack the Supreme Court with partisan ideologues. During that time, the current court has made dozens of decisions, many of them by a 5-4 vote, that have harmed womenís rights, the environment and most recently the Janus decision, which was an attack on union rights and the standard of living of American workers.

Further, the Supreme Court has eroded voting rights, upheld Trumpís Muslim ban, and of course, by a 5-4 vote, decided Citizens United, empowering corporations and wealthy Americans to buy elections.

And it is widely suspected that a hyper-partisan Supreme Court, with Trumpís new nominee, would aim its sights directly at overturning Roe v. Wade. We canít let this happen.

Donald Trumpís first nomination, Neil Gorsuch, has quickly become one of the most radical right-wing members of the court. The evidence suggests Brett Kavanaugh could go even further.

The damage Brett Kavanaugh could do wonít just last until the next election. He could serve on the Court for decades, making dangerous decisions for years to come.

Together we must do everything we can to win back the House, the Senate and the presidency to stop further disastrous nominees. But right now, we must do everything we can to stop the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

That starts with you adding your name to our petition.

Add your name to our petition to oppose the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Let us protect our democracy.

This will be a long fight, and Iím proud to have you with me.

In solidarity,

Bernie Sanders

Trump Pence Make America Great Again

Friend,

I promised you I would only appoint justices in the mold of the late, great Justice Antonin Scalia.

Today, I am once again fulfilling that promise by appointing a strong constitutionalist, the Honorable Brett M. Kavanaugh, to the Supreme Court.

Judge Kavanaugh will protect our religious liberties, uphold the rule of law, and interpret the Constitution as it was originally understood by our Founders.

Senate liberals know that we have the opportunity to reshape the Supreme Court for an entire GENERATION, and they are ready to obstruct and unleash a smear campaign against our nominee.

Just like during Justice Gorsuchís confirmation hearings, we need to remind Democrats to stop playing politics and to put America FIRST.

Please sign our official petition telling the Liberal OBSTRUCTIONISTS to confirm Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

This is what weíre up against:

(Washington Free Beacon, 6/27/18)

(Washington Times, 6/28/18)

We must stand strong against the dirty tactics coming our way. The fate of the Supreme Court -- and our Constitution -- hangs in the balance, and the Democrats will NOT give up easily.

Sign our official petition telling Liberal obstructionists to confirm Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court NOW.

Thank you,

Once upon a time judges were only confirmed based on qualifications, and not stances on issues. That is really the way it should be.

But when you have a senate who won't even bring a qualified candidate up for a vote because there is an election 8 months away, then you really can't be serious to expect obstruction the other way.

I wonder if it will ever be possible to return to the old days? Probably not. MAGA is just a slogan with absolutely no substance behind it.

Merrick Garland should have gotten a vote, no if ans or buts about it. President Obama nearly had a full year left on his term in office when Scalia died.

But we know that isn't when the court became politicized. It's been coming for a long time, it just has reached a boiling point now.

You know, sometimes I think back, to those old days, when qualifications mattered more than politics and we had give-and-take and compromise, those times before the internet, and twitter and supercharged political talk shows...as we become more engaged and more active as a society, it makes the people sent to Washington to do the work more self conscious of what they do because now more people are watching and more people care and more people will call you out if you don't do what they want. So this divide, this gridlock is just as much about our political activism as it is their unwillingness to put aside party and politics and do what is right.

I don't know. You read my posts on this you know I've said it before. We are just not in a good place right now politically and nothing we are dealing with now started overnight (or 2016 election for that matter). We are all really just our own worst enemies, many of us put ideology and party first, it is no surprise that the representatives we send to Washington are ultra partisan as well.
