Very cool -- it was the 1st nite of a back-to-back, w/a gig scheduled the following night in NH.
A storm kicked up as they were getting ready to leave -- here are Willie Perkins' recollections from his great book No Saints No Saviors:

"Flying back to back gigs created a logistical nightmare....one of my all-time favorite 1971 jumps by air was from Burlington, Vt in the afternoon, to Rindge, NH for an evening performance at Franklin Pierce College.

"It wasn't far but we flew in February during a blinding snowstorm. Somehow, Mike Callahan and Kim Payne got the equipment truck to the venue on icy two-lane back roads. I flew the rest of the crew and the band on a tiny prop communter plane during a complete whiteout blizzard with our landing gear frozen in the up position. All I could think of was another February day when Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper made a similar flight."
