Senate Bill 722/Russia by Daisy Luther

Would the new bill that the Senate has quietly passed actually remove executive powers from the President and start a war with Russia?

Our US Congress is filled with criminals, liars, people with serious health problems that could impair their judgment, and lifers with all the signs of advancing dementia, and yet these people are making decisions that could mean the difference between life and death for the rest of us while completely circumventing the checks and balances put in place by the Constitution.

A bill called “Countering Iran’s Destabilizing Activities Act of 2017” is, unsurprisingly, inaccurately named. (Aren’t all of the most powerful bills? I mean, the Patriot Act was anything but patriotic.)

Really, it’s all about Russia and disabling the Executive Branch.

80% of the bill has absolutely nothing to do with Iran, but instead, focuses on Russia. It removes many executive powers from the President and gives them to Congress. In effect, it ties Trump’s hands with regard to foreign policy by forcing him to abide by Executive Orders signed by Obama. If enacted, this would completely destroy our relationship with Russia.

The bill would enforce sanctions on Russia from executive orders that were signed by President Obama in 2017.

It is the sense of Congress that the Secretary of the Treasury and the Secretary of State should continue to implement Executive Order 13382 (50 U.S.C. 1701 note; relating to blocking property of weapons of mass destruction delivery system proliferators and their supporters). (source)

Also see Section 211 for all of the details of the sanctions this bill (remember, this is all about Iran) would impose on Russia, including the mandatory imposition of a number of President Obama’s Executive orders (section 222), cybersanctions against Russia cannot be waived by the President without permission from Congress (section 224c), and sanctions against anyone who supplies goods, services, technology, or information that benefits the Russian infrastructure (sections 232-233). These sanctions would destroy Russia’s railways, oil, and mining sectors and cause economic havoc within the country. They’d destroy any company in the world that supported Russia’s state-owned energy interests in any way.

The bill was passed in the Senate by a vote of 98-2. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) and Senator Bernie Sanders (I- VT) were the only dissenting votes.

Do you honestly think Russian President Vladimir Putin will just sit there and watch the economic destruction of his country without retaliation?

War with Russia is not the way we want to go. In my World War 3 series, I speculated about an offshore conflict and a mainland conflict, as well as the shortages and other effects that we’d face due to such a catastrophe.

If you aren’t yet prepped, this new legislation should light a fire under any sensible person.

And for all the people bemoaning the Trump presidency? Well, this has nothing to do with Trump and everything to do with Congress – you know, the people who are supposed to be representing their constituents instead of their own interests. Let us be perfectly clear – our members of Congress are NOT representing us.

The key there? “If Trump continues on this current peaceful route, Congress seems to be indicating they’ll act on their own.”

REMARKS: The US needs to get out of the foreign policy practice of playing parent to the world; telling other countries what they can and cannot do in their own lands, punishing them if they do not abide by a US desired agenda. We do not own the world, we should not be telling any country what they may do in their own lands. If Iran wants to have nuclear power, that is THEIR business. If they nuke somebody, then we can decide to respond and ally with whomever is the object of aggression. North Korea is not our business. They have lived side by side with South Korea for a long time. They do not need us threatening them. Libya was not our business, nor Egypt, nor Iraq. The Afghans did not do anything to us, Osama lived there on land given to him by an Arab, so why didn't we attack Arabia since they provided that land to him IF he was guilty as charged? Mullah Omar asked him to relocate due to all the troubles in the Afghan land, and he did so.....

We cannot continue harassing other nations, we need to have a non-interventionalist foreign policy. Yet here we sit while Congress declares that they will enforce Executive Orders issued by Obama just before he left office, in direct opposition to our constitutionally elected President. America needs to wake up and become aware of what is going on.

That is what Trump is up against. Removing Executive powers of the President. We could be naïve and say well maybe it is payback for the times when Presidents have taken action without Congress's consent, like going to war against Iraq etc. etc. but this goes way beyond that.

The recent disclosure from the Pastor Rodney Howard Brown that a high ranking Republican Senator told him that Congress seeks to 'immobilize' the President could mean they pass legislation to take away his authority to act without their approval.

We were under tyranny under the rule of England when this country was founded as a separate country, after it outgrew it's colony status. Now a group of elites seeks to continue eroding the freedoms and protections our forefathers put into place when they created the laws and powers of the bodies of government.

The system of checks and balances allows Congress to do exactly what they did. It is Trump who abuses his power and forces Congress to rein him in. You should have paid more attention in civics class.

When Congress uses playground politics such as refusing to even talk to a Supreme Court Justice nominee just because a Democratic President recommended him, our system of governance is a being run by a bunch of pouty little boys with too much power exercising their partisan politics.

I don't vote my party anymore. I vote for whoever I think is best for the job. I am a democrat, but I voted for John McCain when it was him or Obama for the Presidential job. I voted for Trump because of Hillary's foreign policy stance from years ago that the would send drone strikes into Pakistan and tell them after they were launched if an when it was convenient for the US to do so. I do not believe in pre-emptive bombing or killing people in other countries.

Congressional members are up for election again soon, and the ones who are stonewalling, and being spoiled brats should be voted out of office, we the people can do that.

So you are ok with the fact that Trump has already killed more civilians in 7 months in the fight against ISIS than Obama did in 8 years?
