Another musical act drops out of Trump inauguration lineup
by Rare.us
It was announced last week that the B Street Band, a Bruce Springsteen cover band, was going to perform at the Garden State Inaugural Gala to ring in the Trump-Pence administration with song.

Not anymore.

The band, which performed after two election wins by outgoing President Obama, told 'Entertainment Weekly' that the decision was made out of respect for Bruce Springsteen, who has publicly criticized Trump.
"With deepest apologies to our fans and the New Jersey Inaugural Ball committee, the B Street Band is withdrawing from performing at this year’s inauguration gala. Our decision is based SOLELY on the respect and gratitude we have for Bruce and the E Street Band. Bruce’s music has been the foundation of our livelihood. The B Street Band would not exist without the talents of Bruce and our E Street brothers. We are most grateful to these rock legends and look forward to many more years of emulating and performing the forever music, of Bruce Springsteen."
Springsteen, who performed at a Hillary Clinton rally the night before the election, has not minced words when it comes to the president-elect.
"This is a man whose vision is limited to little beyond himself, who has the profound lack of decency that would allow him to prioritize his own interests and ego before American democracy itself," Springsteen said at the rally. "(He is) somebody who would be willing to damage our long-cherished and admired system rather than look to himself for the reasons behind his own epic failure., and that’s unforgivable. Tomorrow, those ideas and that campaign is going down."
"Let’s all do our part so we can look back on 2016 and say we stood with Hillary Clinton on the right side of history. That’s why I’m standing here with you tonight, for the dream of a better America."
"I’ve felt disgust before, but never the kind of fear that you feel now," he said after the election in an interview with Marc Maron. "It’s as simple as the fear of, is someone simply competent enough to do this particular job? Do they simply have the pure competence to be put in the position of such responsibility?"
In September, Springsteen called Trump "a moron, basically."
"Well, you know, the republic is under siege by a moron, basically. The whole thing is tragic. Without overstating it, it’s a tragedy for our democracy," he told 'Rolling Stone.'
The B Street Band joins a host of musical acts who have been associated with the inauguration one day and been ruled out the next.

Oh, no!! A Bruce Springsteen tribute band pulled out? What will they do now? I guess they'll have to cancel the inauguration gala? LOL

And who gives a damn what Bruce thinks. These celebrities need to get over themselves.

Bruce apparently doesn't even know the difference between a democracy and a republic...so, which is it, Bruce? Our Founding Fathers gave us one, and warned us about the other. "Our long-cherished and admired system" is not the socialist state or progressive/liberal utopia that Bruce and his ilk dream of. And if Bruce's standard of competence is Barry and Hillary...well, then who is the moron? I'd have to say that both Bruce and Trump are morons. But only time will tell if Trump is an incompetent moron.

Nice to see some people putting country ahead of politics. Maybe some others could learn something from their views:

Inauguration Singer Will Perform for All America, Says Trans Sister

"Jackie is singing for our country," says Jackie Evancho's transgender sister, Juliet.

By Trudy Ring and Dawn Ennis
January 15 2017 6:27 PM EST

Jackie Evancho, the America’s Got Talent runner-up who’ll sing at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration Friday, will be performing for all of America, says her transgender sister, Juliet.

“The way I look at it is, Jackie is singing for our country, and it’s an honor for her to be singing in front of so many people,” Juliet Evancho told CBS Sunday Morning correspondent Michele Miller in a segment aired today. “So I feel like that’s really where I look at it. And that’s where I’m going to leave it right now.” Juliet, however, won’t attend the inauguration due to a previous engagement, she said.

Both sisters are LGBT rights supporters, and Jackie has received some criticism for agreeing to perform for an administration expected to be hostile to the cause. But Jackie Evancho said she wants her appearance to transcend politics.

“I hope to just kind of make everyone forget about rivals and politics for a second, and just think about America and the pretty song that I’m singing,” Jackie told Miller. “I’m hoping that I can bring people together.” Jackie has previously sung for President Obama and has released several albums.

When Juliet came out as transgender a few years ago, it didn’t change the two teens’ relationship, they said. “We were always really close with each other, even before I transitioned and everything. I was still always her sister, if that makes sense?” Juliet said. Jackie said she always knew Juliet, although assigned male at birth, identified as female — “It’s kind of hard not to,” she told Miller.

Jackie also discussed the bullying she has encountered, regarding both her career and her sister’s transgender identity — something she has addressed in previous interviews. Watch a video report below, and the CBS Sunday Morning clip below that.

Unfortunately and sadly predictable, Jackie has faced harsh criticism online for her accepting the gig to sing at the inauguration - despite the fact that her transgender brother/sister supports her in being at the inauguration Friday. Left-wingers and LGBT supporters attacking Jackie, guess tolerance in different points of view is a one way street with some of those people. It's one thing for an individual to protest or speak out against an issue, or politician...it's another to threaten or shame someone else to go along with their point of view.

I am not sure where this rule that liberals are selective in how they exhibit tolerance comes from. A large part of the right wing continues to be very intolerant towards any kind of diversity. This is very evident in the way that Trump views minorities and women. Barbara Lee says she is not going to the inauguration for a man who calls women pigs.

For eight years Trump publically denied Obama his legitimacy as a President and he was very effective as 72% of registered Republicans do not believe that Obama was born in America and this means they do not believe he was a legitimate president.

What needs to happen is that Trump has to get behind a podium and apologize for the dissension and division he created over the last 9 years. If he does that my bet is that people will think again and the country will start to heal. But he is not doing that. All he is doing is tweeting and causing further discord.

Good post. However, does anyone think "apologize" is in the cards for Trump? That's probably a 1 in a 100 chance.

The man surely loves his tweets. He's been on a roll as of late. Got to laugh at Trump tweeting in going after CIA Chief, John Brennan. Makes sense - since Trump knows more than the generals, it would seem logical that he knows more than the intelligence community. What a mindset Trump lives in.

It would be interesting to know of the 72% you referenced what % are OK with ACA but against Obamacare.

I believe she has sung on multiple occasions for President Obama.

I get that this is what 'we' do in the WP, but why belittle her?

Redfish, why do you get upset when a celebrity voices their opinion? Don't they have the same right as you? Why are you more qualified than they are? What is your degree and work experience that your's is more worthy? Is it them speaking out that bothers you? Or is it that they are liberals? Do you feel the same way when Nugent rants against Obama? Just curious - trying to learn is all.

bottom line is, a new duly-elected administration takes over this Friday -- all new administrations historically get a grace period ("honeymoon" period)

The Democrats did a good job over the last 8 years, just like the Repubs the previous 8 years to that -- & the Dems (B. Clinton) in the previous 8 years to that -- preceded of course by Ronald Reagan's 8 years in office in the 1980s
-- all of them were supported out of the gate by All Americans, in the spirit of fair play & positivity

President elect Trump's plain speaking, his not putting himself out of touch w/the populace by Tweeting -- I think he & the GOP will do a good job -- he has sworn enemies who are committed to bringing him down, obviously, but if given the chance, I think he'll prove out

some, not many, but a few, can work and function and be comfortable in a Hollywood environment. They're normal and a rare breed. Marc Wahlberg comes to mind. Stay too long in the bubble and one begins to foment excrement such as Rosie Odonell who is calling for enacting martial law because her candidate lost.

BTW, this "war" with Hollywood is entirely Hollywood's choosing.

People should watch what they say and nothing justifies this venom, especially considering her age. I've never heard of her.

There does seem to be a lot of pressure in the art and music community not to do this show.

Still A governor in some state walked into an office and grabbed a woman he was arguing with by the crotch. A really perverted thing to do but it is enabled from the top.

My comments were a response to Sean Spicer who claimed Obama should talk to the country to bring a stop to this. (I still can't find the link)

Trump is still firing people up. It is his responsibility to soothe this and not Obama's.

People have excuse after excuse for Trump's behavior. He's like an uncontrolled juvenile delinquent we've given a lot of power to and refuse to discipline.

The President does set the mood for the nation.

I had the wrong guy. There are two of them

cheney/bush ran the country nearly into the ground in their 8 years, pence/trump will run it all the way into the ground. few will get richer, most will lose, healthcare, jobs, homes, lives. some people never learn from the past,so they are doomed to repeat it.
