Well he is always full of surpises, isn't he? Joni Ernst?

https://www.yahoo.com/news/unconventional-32-trump-joni-ernst-000000785.htm l

Résumé: First-term U.S. senator from Iowa, former Iowa state senator, former Montgomery County auditor, retired Iowa National Guard lieutenant colonel, Iraq War veteran. Source of speculation: How Donald Trump spent his Independence Day. Amid reports that the presumptive Republican nominee has changed his mind about waiting until the GOP convention in Cleveland to unveil his running mate — he now plans to select a sidekick next week, according to an adviser — Trump summoned Ernst to meet with him Monday at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.

They were not there to play golf.

Instead, as “one person briefed on the process” told the New York Times, the campaign has begun to consider Ernst in recent days as a possible vice presidential pick. Both Paul Manafort, Trump’s chief strategist and veepstakes ringleader, and Reince Priebus, the Republican National Committee chairman, attended the get-together as well. “What she brings to the ticket is that she is an outstanding messenger and has a lot of knowledge of military policy that Trump doesn’t have,” Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley added. “And she is also the first female combat veteran to serve in the U.S. Senate.”

“Joni Ernst would be tremendous,” concluded Arizona Sen. John McCain. “She is really remarkable.”

As recently as two weeks ago, Trump did not appear to be pondering Ernst for the vice presidency.
“I think he must have his eyes set on somebody else, and that’s OK,” she told reporters at the time. “If that was being considered, somebody, I think, would have reached out to me. Nobody has reached out.” Since then, Trump seems to have taken notice. Ernst served in the National Guard and Army Reserve for 23 years, fought in Iraq and currently sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Amid reports that the presumptive Republican nominee has changed his mind about waiting until the GOP convention in Cleveland to unveil his running mate — he now plans to select a sidekick next week, according to an adviser.

Remarks: Wouldn't that be nice, an honest to goodness down to earth person who actually wants to do good things as a Veep. There's been NO Official statement, but people are watching. Thank God it isn't Palin.

So he is also looking at men for possible running mates. Reitred General Michael Flynn.

http://english.aawsat.com/2016/07/article55354183/trump-looks-retired-gener al-flynn-possible-running-mate

Flynn was chief of the Defense Intelligence Agency under President Barack Obama from 2012-2014.
He has spoken in the past about wanting the United States to work more closely with Russia to resolve global security issues. Moreover, Flynn has a book coming out next week, co-written with Michael Ledeen, titled: “The Field of Fight: How We Can Win the Global War Against Radical Islam and Its Allies.”

Remarks: Another interesting possibility.

Here's a few more they claim are up for consideration.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/jul/10/donald-trump-running-mate-n ewt-gingrich-chris-christie

Well that's what the news says, but I think Christie would get an Attorney General Spot in a Trump administration and I think that is what he wants. I think there are other people under consideration because none of the rest of these bring what he needs to the ticket.

Exactly! There isn't a running mate in the world good enough to convince me to vote for Trump.

The thing is that at least two of the world's most feared leaders, Kim Jung Un, (North Korea) and Vladimir Putin (Russia), like him, and will work with him to ensure peace and keep us out of nuclear war. That's pretty valuable to us.

He also has a non interventionalist perspective, he really doe snot want to be involved in wars and military actions in other countries. He prefers to concentrate on helping the US to fix it's problems here at home.

I think prior to voting time, people will have to look at the issues and seriously consider the stands of each of the candidates. For one thing, he wants US citizens to maintain their right to bear arms, Hillary on the hand does not. How important is that to you? it's things like that, look at the contrasting points of view of the candidates, and then decide.

If he can bring good paying jobs back to the US and will strongly focus on doing that as a priority, we should think about that. One bad thing is I don't think he is in favor or raising the minimum wage. Hillary is in favor of that. She has been criticized for her willingness to accept a $12 minimum wage nationally, but she explained that she KNOWS we would never get $15 passed thru Congress, so at least if we got $12, that would be a starting point to help people out. Even Obama has said over and over again to give the country a raise to at least $10 an hr. This is a big issue.

We need to look at all the issues and where the candidates stand on them and then decide on what is most important to us individually and personally. Is there anything that either of the candidates are for or against that we just cannot tolerate? There may be just one or two things but those things could be the deciding factor. I will keep an open mind, but I am leaning towards Trump because I want us to get out of foreign politics, and Kim Jung Un and Putin (our biggest nuclear threats other than China) like him and will work with him to help keep us safe. If Hillary gets in and messes up, the West Coast can be nuked. Are we willing to risk that? Got to ask the tough questions and think about worst case scenarios because we live here and will have to endure whatever happens.

Trump meets with finalists, and his family weighs in on their choices. Don Jr. and Eric like Chris Christie. Ivanka likes Gingrich. Trump met with Mike Pence.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-family-meet-vp-finalists-000000553.html

Trump publicly campaigned with Pence on Tuesday night, marking the first time he and the Indiana governor shared a stage. At one point, Trump, who is said by those close to him to be truly undecided about whom to pick as his running mate, poked fun at his indecision. “I don’t know if he’s going to be your governor or vice president,” Trump said of Pence at the Indiana rally. “Who the hell knows?”

Remark: He may have quipped who the hell knows because he has not gotten the formal nomination from the RNC yet. Also, he would have to offer the spot to one of the short list people and they would need to consider if they want to accept that or not. NJ Gov. Chris Christie has wanted the Attorney General spot, so we really do not know if he wants a VP slot. Trump has said he will announce his pick before the convention so we should have an answer by the end of this week.

The title of this thread is comical. His degrading and despicable statements about women would make any woman with self respect run for the hills if asked to be his VP. He is a misogynist personified. The idea of Trump picking a woman for VP was nothing more than a publicity stunt.

Possibly his finest moment was the now famous line about Megyn Kelly & "blood coming out of her wherever". This in response when poor poor Donald didn't like her line of primary debate questioning. What a tough guy he is. I guess he showed her.

Here's a paragraph from a Juan Williams article hitting on some of Trump's kind words about women:

He has already been featured in two political ads, one run by anti-Trump Republicans and the second sponsored by the top super-PAC supporting Clinton, Priorities USA. In the super-PAC ad, women of all colors lip sync as Trump makes negative comments about women, claiming that one woman has a “fat ass,” asking whether “you like girls who are 5”1’, they come up to you know where” and offering his judgment that a woman “who is very flat chested is very hard to be a ten.”

The Goob whines about "noun verb insult".

Then he posts this picture.

As I keep saying, you don't know where the high road is.

On this topic, I have a feeling that Trump will make an out of left field choice for VP. That would fit the way he likes to operate.

If I was Trump I'd be tempted to go with Kasich. He'd be on my short list.

Except Kasich wants nothing to do with Trump. There's plenty of good reasons for that. When was the last time you saw Kasich's name mentioned as a real possibilty for VP?

Bob, it seems that you are right. Pence's private jet arrived at Teterboro airport today, and a big black SUV pulled right up to the steps so that there was very little space between the stairs and open doors of the SUV. He got in the SUV secret service style and off he went. He has to make his declaration if he intends to run again for the seat in Indiana by noontime tomorrow. The official announcement of Trump's VP pick (presumably at Trump Tower) will be at 11 AM!

[ABC news had the video from a sleuth reporter who had inside info - gotta love the press]

Chris Christie weathered some severe thunderstorms that came thru the tri state area today, they were bad enough to knock a tree down on his property and knock the power out, so I guess he'll be "dancin' in the dark" as Springsteen would say tonight with his wife of 30 years.

I really thought Gingrich would have been the one selected because Ivanka liked him best of the candidates, but you know that Donald makes up his own mind. So we can expect to hear Mike Pence as the VP selected tomorrow at 11 AM.

In his usual high school student council election campaign style he went ahead and announced his VP selection on Twitter. I guess he decided it was not necessary to delay the announcement out of respect for events in France. It was only necessary to delay the press conference.

I could not understand what the events in France had to do with his announcement anyway. Was he trying to be humble, like say, well this is bigger news than my announcement. Mike Pence did make a nice statement about the attacks anyway.
