Spoken like a true intellectual. She's too good to be true and a wonderful asset for the GOP.

Clearly she knows that we speak English. I just think that she believes that a typical GOP supporter doesn't knows it, so she is talking down to them at a level they will understand.

What an embarrassment she is.

My favorite Palin moment though is when she misspoke and said that Paul Revere was "warning the British" after visiting the Paul Revere museum (no problem with this, everyone gets mixed up sometimes but..) but when asked later if she misspoke she DOUBLED DOWN on it!

"Nope! He was warning those British to look out for America!" or some such nonsense.

Hahahahaha!! This still makes me laugh. "One if the Americans are coming by land and two if the Americans are coming by sea" right Sarah??? BWAHAHAHAHAA!!

Holy crap she's dumb.

IMO, one could make a case that American English is a dialect of Modern English that differs greatly from the English spoken in the UK or Australia, or any other of the dozens of countries where English is the primary language.

Then there's the breakdown of all the regional dialects we have in America alone. Is the English spoken in Biloxi the same English spoken in Portland?

I'll give Sarah a pass on that one. I got what she meant. However, this discussion, IMO, always bears repeating that the United States does not have an official language. There are many that think we should, and many others that think an official language goes against the whole idea of America in the first place. It's not an issue easily broken down by the usual political divides.

I found her other blurb from the same interbview a little more perplexing:

“I think a lot about the Department of Energy, because energy is my baby, oil and gas and minerals, those things that God has dumped on this part of the Earth for mankind’s use, instead of relying on unfriendly foreign nations for us to import their resources, and if I were head of that, I would get rid of it.”

Um, ok?

No disrespect BHawk, but if you were to give any sort of serious legitimacy to "speaking American", here is what "Speaking American" would look like in the real world. I get that this video is a joke but the difference between this being a joke and a "Speaking American" as some sort of serious concept is about as slight as the difference in the idiosyncrasies between English being spoken in England vs. the English being spoken in the United States.

"Legitimacy?" LOL. There are plenty of things about Sarah Palin to get humor out of. All I was saying that I got what she was saying, which with Sarah, can be difficult.

As to your link, that's pretty much the point I was trying to make with the rest of the post. It's the same, but different.

This is the "legitimate" part I was talking about not Palin. I don't think there is enough "different" for the term "speaking American" to enter the lexicon as anything more than a punchline.

In all her brilliance and in-depth knowledge of foreign affairs, she was leading a rally with Cruz & Trump today against the Iran nuclear deal. All three of them have how much knowledge & experience in this type of arena...hmmm?

You can't see Iran from a porch in Alaska so WTF?
