He scored the one millionth run in MLB history. Growing up in Detroit, I saw him a lot. Oddest batting stance I have ever seen.

Nice airbrush on his cap by the way.

Actually it was Bob Watson who scored the 1,000,000th run. Milt May drove in the run with a 3-run homer.

Yep you are right. I forgot that was the case. Age catches up with you at times.

Forty years ago tonight. I spend the next 10 or so years playing organized baseball wearing #27 and playing catcher.

Elliott Maddox. He sued everyone in New York when he was injured in the outfield at Shea. Shame, he had the potential to be one of the greats.

Great photos -- Get well soon, Lou Brock -- one of the greats -- hopefully the adjustment to his prosthesis will go OK for one of the best base stealers of all time

The only man to ever hit a HR into the CF seats at the Polo Grounds, a 520 foot blast.

ot the only one. Joe Adcock did so; Henry Aaron did it either the day before or after Brock. So did Luke Easler

Luke Easter hit one clean out of RFK Stadium during a 1980s Old Timers game one time (into the stands) -- at age 75

He should be well-enough set, hopefully Kevin McHale will just enjoy a well-deserved retirement now -- he was going thru w/his team what Bruins are going through --

Kevin also carries the scars of his career more than most, & someone that tall who limps like that could have it tough in later years -- he should spend time w/his family, manage his money & pay attention to his physical condition -- you rock, Kevin -- #32, in the rafters

1- The McHale; Bird; Parrish front line was perhaps Red A's greatest sign of genius. And remember; this was a guy who traded for the rights to Bill Russell.

2 - May years ago their was a sports illustrated article about Ted Williams - that spoke of the then mid to late 50's year old manager of the Rangers taking batting practice and ripping the cover off the ball. There is also the story of I think before the 1981 world series when Tom Lasorda pulled Koufax of the batting practice mound as the Dodgers couldn't touch him
