So after over 1 year of congress asking for relevant emails in the IRS Scandal they now say a computer crash caused them to be lost . This isn't even close to being believable. Let me see no back up servers? really
The IRS says it can't produce emails "written only to or from Lerner and outside agencies or groups, such as the White House, Treasury, Department of Justice, FEC, or Democrat offices."

The White house response. “You’ve never heard of a computer crashing before?”
So now the IRS is openly engaging in Obstruction of Justice

Move on nothing to see here "Not a smidgen of corruption"

That's right he doesn't have any responsibility of running the government
and he finds out about the scandals by reading the newspaper.

And I am sure there is nothing in those emails and he is innocent of any wrongdoing
and no one is guilty of any wrong doing , why else would he say there isn't a smidgen of corruption

I'll take his word for it.

Never fear. All the files that pertain to Tea Party groups is somehow safe and sound...

Hard drive crash? Try that excuse with the IRS. Good luck with that.

"Damn, my hard drive crashed so I can't provide that. I guess this audit is over?"

I'm not carrying water for Obama. I'm incensed about his relationship with the banisters and corporate America. I can't stand the continued military presence in Afghanistan and his attitude towards using drones. I'm disgusted that Guantanamo is still open. I'm repulsed by the lack of investigation and condemnation of white collar criminals.

But the IRS scandal? Is that the best you got? Please. You Right Wingers are a broken record.

We are about to get re-involved in Iraq. You want my outrage? Start a thread about that.

IRS scandal. Sheesh.

This response looks pretty typical. Of course, this will be good enough for the low-information stooges and that's what's important.

On the other hand, if this garbage strikes you as being a little suspicious you must be some kind of extremist!

If the IRS wants to investigate "tax exempt" organizations that publicly admit they are against taxation, I say good on them. I seem to remember that the IRS also investigated Left leaning groups.

If I were in charge of collecting fines from people breaking the law I would certainly look into folks who are vocal about breaking those laws.

For example, if I were in charge of collecting fines from the criminals who have not purchased health insurance I would not use insurance company policy records as my source for rooting out the nefarious. I'd use other means.

1. Where do you get that a TP group is "against taxation?" They might be against excessive taxation, but that's a completely different animal. The government is collecting record revenues as it is.

It's interesting also that the rationale has shifted away from calling for higher taxes based on what the government needs to perform it's basic functions -- Into being about income inequality, "fairness," people not paying their "fair share" and what not.

2. None for political reasons.

Of course it was because of political reasons. Actually neither the Right Leaning or Left Leaning organizations were targeted for political reasons. They were targeted because they were political organizations filing for tax exemptions. Specifically tax exemptions that have a history of being abused.

You are correct. Sadly the right seems to forget that the tax exemptions status is the meat and potatoes of this. But don't let that get in the way of a good argument.

On the other hand, in this day & age with the advancement of technology & file keeping systems, I do agree that a crashed hard drive & lack of backups is pathetic & warrants a much better explanation. But that takes backseat to the tax exemption issue, and I don't see the two as a contradiction.

That's assuming it was a good argument to begin with.

If that was true it should be pretty easy to prove. Apparently either they can't or are not willing to do so for some reason.

If you remember, at the start there was no question it was for political reasons but some rogue agents were responsible. You can't un-ring that bell.

to say the tax exemption status is the issue is nuts. the issue is that the IRS with this administration has attacked the people who dis agree with them. you know free market patriots Obama saying this is a phony scandal is incriminating

Agreed. There are so many more pressing issues to be concerned about. These little rabbit trails only lead us away and divide our focus from the real problems facing us. Things could get ral ugly real quick on a global scale.

Real problems like re-naming an NFL franchise.

It's true there are pressing issues to be concerned about but questions at the IRS most definitely qualifies. No matter who is in power, an agency like the IRS must conduct their business free of partisanship. Perhaps they have been all along, but when hard drives start frying in the middle of an investigation, displaying a lack of suspicion is quite an irrational position to say the least.

So The IRS committing crimes isn't something to look in to. The IRS covering up crimes within the IRS isn't something "worthy of attention" The IRS being used to suppress free speech isn't something to look into. The IRS saying it lost emails that pertain to an investigation isn't worth looking into. I don't know what is a bigger scandal the IRS or the fact that the Newscast at NBC,ABC and CBS don't think it is worthy of news. Now the IRS is saying that they way they back up emails is to have the individual print out the email as back up. They say that they "recycled the server. There are 50,000 emails missing from Louis lerner and there are 90,000 IRS employees so that would make up 4.5 Billion printouts. Not Believable. You do know that the IRS has a legal obligation to retain emails and documents don't you? You do know that you are required to keep your personal tax records for 7 years don't you?

You obviously have different "information" than I have.

In my view the IRS was doing their job. They aren't my favorite government organization but they do have an obligation to go after tax cheats. It only makes sense that certain groups have a propensity to steal from the People of the United States.

They targeted both conservative and liberal groups. It is my understanding that only liberal groups were actually caught and fined.

Regardless. The argument loses all credibility with me because of that blowhard Darrel Issa and the constant investigations of the Obama administration that go nowhere.

The Republicans conduct themselves like whiney little bitches running to tattletale with little or no evidence of wrongdoing.

I can't be bothered with another fake scandal.
