Ever since I was a wee lad, I've always enjoyed Christmas music. It was the reason I joined my church's youth choir (much to their chagrin!). Here's one of my favorites, The First Noel performed by the University of Utah choir.

As I've gotten older, holiday music becomes more emotional for me. I enjoy listening to it more and more, even in the middle of summer.

Please add your favorites. I'd love to hear what other like. Lots of gems out there!

Merry Christmas everyone. One way or the other, may the spirit of The Holidays infect us all. The Road Goes On Forever!

Jimmy Smith's Christmas CD from some 15-20 years ago is real nice

So is the Kingston Trio's Christmas record, "The Last Month of the Year" from the early 1960s -- wonderfully energetic version of Children Go Where I Send Thee

I love singing along at the Christmas church services...

When it comes to Christmas music I prefer it delivered by the old school crooners I grew up listening to like Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Perry Como, Burl Ives and the like. I am a particularly big fan of this version of 'Let It Snow' performed by Vaughn Monroe which starts the closing credits of the original 'Die Hard' movie which also happens to be one of my all time favorite movies.

I agree certain Christmas songs have an emotional feel to them. Whether they take you back in time to a more youthful time or just touch a cord inside you that brings a smile to your face. here are some of my favorites. I too love the old crooners for thier classic sound.

I love John Denver and his Christmas for Cowboys.

What Child Is this

For my fun side once the eggnog and brandy is giving you the warm feeling.

Robert Earl Keene's Merry Christmas From the Family. Come on who hasn't had some of this happen to ya at the family christmas party. I remember last year sitting in my mother in law house in the kitchen and we found how cool it was to throw beer caps in the ceiling fan when folks walked in for seconds.........the kids loved it.....and yes we drank bloody mary's cause we all want one.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HOPE YOU ALL STILL HEAR THE BELLS RINGING.

"At one time, most of my friends could hear the bell, but as years passed, it fell silent for all of them. Even Sarah found one Christmas that she could no longer hear its sweet sound. Though I've grown old, the bell still rings for me, as it does for all who truly believe."

Jethro Tull's Christmas album is very good. I worked in retail for 40years and the traditional stuff wears thin pretty quick.

LOL...I was playing Jimmy Smith's Christmas '64 this morning until my wife made me shut it down and put Bing Crosby type stuff on. I guess it'll have to wait until she goes to the grocery.

Anyone ever hear the Beatles Christmas Album? It was a compilation of their fan club Chrismas messages over the years. It is difficult to find on LP these days, but CDRs of all the messages circulate in trader's circles. Every year the Beatles recorded their greetings to their fans, and as the years went on, these messages became much more elaborate and psychedelic. Their final Christmas message was recorded separately because they more or less were broken up.

Also I gotta give Bob Dylan's recent Christmas album a spin sometime soon!

Lots of good choices so far. I'd never heard the Waitresses' song before. I love it!

I want to be like Derek Trucks... got a long way to go!

Keep 'em coming everyone! Cheers!

Listened to The Messiah. I replayed the Hallelujah chorus 5 times. Powerful yet beautiful at the same time.

For those of you with a more (or very) warped sense of humor...

Or, how about Fishbone, with their song about jolly Saint Nicholas "Slick Nick, You Devil You"...

And the late, great, Tiny Tim singing "Santa Claus Has Got The AIDS This Year"...

Bruce Springsteen's "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" always makes me smile. I really like Dylan's Christmas CD, when I first heard about it I thought it was a joke. Give it a listen, Bob doing traditional Christmas songs, whoever would have thought........
