Just post one thing you admire in the opposition. No big rants, flames, indignation, accusation, just pick something that you are proud of the "other side" for. Can you manage that, or are you too far out there?

I have quite a few, but will just post a couple:

1. Am glad Trump and his base have presented another face of the nation to the world - America is unpredictable, which baffles enemies. "Stir the pot", as LUKE put it.

2. The enthusiasm and dedication displayed by the grassroots movement to elect Trump is inspiring, and the complacent left that thought we could all go to sleep under ObamaCorp could really learn from that. They actually got their dark horse elected, while the Dems killed Bernie Sanders.

I haven't seen this kind of social electricity since the early 70s. It's good. Sh*t, I'm even growing my hair long again, playing more guitar - it's revolution time! The tricky part will be not tearing each other to shreds as we regain consciousness.

Interesting topic. I like the fact that Trump will fight back. I think anybody on either side wishes their favorite president would have done that.

I would say humanity and compassion. I tend to look at most things in my scope of right/wrong, people get what they deserve, sink or swim, etc. So the people I run up against on the other side of a handful of issues this comes into play I think my view could benefit from some of that.

I like the topic. And I actually think that anyone who cannot find ANYTHING good on the opposing side is being close-minded.

I'm a Democrat who voted for Hillary and Obama. I also am a 63 year old who is nearly overcome with medical bills. I know that an illegal immigrant can walk into any County hospital and by law they must be treated. That bothers me. In fact, I saw a Forbes article recently that said we spend $18.5 billion per year on medical care for illegal immigrants.

I admire Trump for his aggressive enforcement of immigration law. I also like that he says they are not entitled to U.S. legal counsel. "They are not citizens, get them out of here and let's not waste our tax dollars defending them." I like that. No other U.S. President who I can recall has had the balls to say that. You come here illegally, why should you have the right to sit before a judge?

I'm not surprised that there are only three replies. Is anyone surprised? I've been watching this thread, hoping for something, anything, just to see if any of the regulars had anything. Same divide here apparently as in DC. As Vonnegut would say, "and so it goes".

People on the right are committed to their beliefs and will not waiver.

I haven't been very active here in the last couple years since the end of the ABB, but this post intrigues me. My predicament is that in these times I'm having trouble figuring out which views are in line with mine and which are opposite. Traditionally I've been pretty conservative in my views and although I've never been a registered Republican I have generally supported their positions, at least up until the Tea Party came along. Now I find myself at protest rallies opposing Republican administration policies. So do the Democrats or the Republicans represent the opposite view? Nearly everyone seems to hold views opposite mine. An exception would be Jeff Flake, who seems to have figured out how to maintain both his integrity and his core conservative values. Unfortunately, it seems impossible to survive by doing that.

The only good thing I see in the current administration is this: Sometimes things must get worse before they can get better. The current administration is doing a great job of expediting that process.

Life would be so much easier to just be a Democrat or a Republican. Sometimes I envy those people because you just believe in that point of view and your arguments and voting positions are pretty easy. I find positive things on both sides and disagreement on both sides which makes figuring out things in my head quite complicated when the political world we live in is only left or right.
