I don't mean to sound like a dick, but are they taking the animals to be "euthanized" or to be processed as meat?
I've seen dog catchers in the US (animal control) round up strays in a manner not much less humane. Rare complaints - people are usually happy to have the strays off the streets.

They are going to be on someone's dinner plate. they are rounded up/stolen and sold as food.

Relax. Dog is a standard dish all over Asia. Meat production isn't pretty, in any country, any species. Cattle and chicken and pigs have a tough lot too. I had dog in Taiwan, it was pretty good, with hoisin sauce. Kinda stringy though. Side dish of deep fried locusts washed down with hornet wine, which I must say gave me a killer "buzz". Not kidding. People eat weird stuff out there.

Have you seen the Filipino cookbook?

101 Ways to Wok Your Dog

These methods of round-up don't seem to meet USDA or SPCA standards.

As far as eating dog - I guess meat's meat. Just the same, if anybody invites me for chow I'm going to plead vegan.

BrerRabbit - 5/26/2017 at 01:54 AM

If you think USDA is much better than that video, you've been eating some unholy meat. Me, I am pretty much a vegetarian other than the occasional meat bump when the hippie fade sets in.

Once saw a plastic sack by a Jack In The Box dumpster labeled "USDA certified FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION". Very reassuring. I would trust healthy freerange dog fresh killed at a Hanoi street market over American Mystery Burger any day.

BrerRabbit - 5/26/2017 at 02:08 AM

LOL. "chow". good one.

pops42 - 5/26/2017 at 12:48 PM

Mans best friend...........Its whats for dinner

BrerRabbit - 5/26/2017 at 03:51 PM

Think about how great it must have been for nomadic hunter gatherers to have a meat source that followed them around.

heineken515 - 5/26/2017 at 04:09 PM

I love mentioning to people who are all goo goo ga ga over manatees - that certainly, in some point in history, we ate them.

BrerRabbit - 5/26/2017 at 04:11 PM

At least those dogs in Vietnam got to run around and have a good time until the horrible truck ride, which was only one bad day for them. Unlike factory farm animals that are in hell forever.

We are savages too.

heineken515 - 5/26/2017 at 05:30 PM

We have met the savages and they are indeed us.

So I was fishing off a small kayak/canoe launch the other day when a couple of tourons and their daughter walked up and asked if I'd seen any manatees. I nodded towards my cooler and told 'em that I caught a small one earlier and it was on ice waiting for the frying pan. You shoulda seen the look in their eyes!

Don't you feel the slightest twinge of remorse when your Evinrude pulls a Cuisinart on a manatee?

The fish that it feeds appreciate it.
